Many are discussing what AI and other advanced technologies may become; few have thought through what we will become. Generation AI - those who are born after 2022 - will be the first humans to grow up in a world of immersive AI, intelligent robots, and ambiguous boundaries between the born and the made. They will differ fundamentally from us, yet their future is our future too.
Drawing on evolutionary biology, social science, and progress in advanced technologies, renowned scientist-philosopher Gregory Stock offers the most comprehensive analysis yet of how AI will reshape not just our world, but our very nature. Generation AI: The Transformation of Human Being is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand the profound transformation already underway - and our place within it.
Dr. Gregory Stock is a leading authority on the broad impacts of advanced technology in the life sciences. Stock has a PhD in biophysics from Johns Hopkins and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is an adjunct professor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, where he co-directed the Harris Center for Precision Wellness and worked on the foundations of NextGen wellness and healthcare. He founded and directed the Program on Medicine, Technology and Society at UCLA’s School of Medicine. He co-founded Signum Biosciences and sits on the board of its spinout, Signum Dermalogix—the creators of the Epicutis suite of skincare products. He is the CEO of Socratic Sciences, which leverages the power of questioning to help people better understand themselves and others, deepen relationships, and reduce social isolation.
