Who really belongs in America? Aarti Shahani will take the stage to talk about her memoir, Here WE ARE: American Dreams, American Nightmares. Born in India, Shahani uses her family’s immigration story—her father’s unjust imprisonment and her enrollment in an exclusive prep school—to unpack how American culture glorifies the “deserving” while demonizing the “undeserving.”
