Hello Darkness, My Old Friend III ~ a celebration of the end of daylight saving time

Hello Darkness takes the big stage for year three of NoMi's boutique celebration of shorter days. Join us in celebrating the arrival of a comforting blanket of night with performances by Jack M. Senff and the Heartland Mission, Metal Bubble Trio, A.S. Lutes, and not-to-be-missed special guest performers.

DOORS OPEN AT 5:27pm (sundown).

After Andrew Dost’s band Fun. found global success with songs like “We Are Young” and “Some Nights,” he re-invented his creative approach and found inspiration in Bossa nova, doo-wop, exotica, and more. Those sonic touchstones, combined with Dost’s ear for innovative beats, rich melodies, and boutique instrumentation, has led to his new project, Metal Bubble Trio. With a sound that’s both refreshingly new and nostalgically familiar, Metal Bubble Trio operates in the sublime space where cutting-edge and classic collide. With their debut album “Cucumber,” MBT have found the sweet spot between crate-digging detail, and being catchy and meaningful enough to soundtrack the moments of your life.

Jack M. Senff (“sen-eff”) is a Midwestern singer-songwriter. He trades in a literary, pop-based vernacular informed by a love of old folk rock, country-western, 90’s adult alternative, and a youth spent in the living rooms & basements of the late-00s “do it yourself” punk movement. Senff is a founding member of pioneering screamo acts Merchant Ships and William Bonney, as well as the bands Knola, Midwest Pen Pals, North Folk, and Boy Rex.
Always chasing new sounds, Jack M. Senff is currently embarking on his next chapter, the so-called Heartland Mission. You can listen to his latest album Feeling & Devotion now wherever music finds you, or on physical media via Skeletal Lightning Records.

Having previously spent a decade as the lead singer and principal songwriter of Brooklyn, NY indie-pop band The Stationary Set, Andrew Lutes relocated back to his northern Michigan birthplace in 2016 to pursue a more quiet existence set to the backdrop of NoMi's natural amenities. Out of a near six-year hiatus from performing music, A.S. Lutes emerged in the summer of 2021 with a collection of newly-minted songs to sing-- sprung from the nostalgia created by adversity and the gratitude cultivated by longing. Building upon that collection and molding songs within carefully curated live performances, his first recorded release under his own name is slated to greet listeners by the end of 2024.
